Pokémon Card Centering Checker

Pokémon layouts range from clear bordered frames to full-art designs where the repeatable print boundary is subtler. Measure the same structural frame on opposite sides rather than character art or text boxes that were designed off-centre.

Pokémon measurement tips

  • On bordered cards, use the physical edge and the consistent inner frame around the artwork or card face.
  • On full-art or borderless-looking cards, choose a repeatable printed boundary visible on both opposite sides; if none exists, treat the ratio as lower confidence.
  • Holo glare can hide a boundary. Diffuse the light or use a flatbed scan instead of guessing where the print edge sits.

What the result can tell you

  • Factory cut and artwork layout can look asymmetric for different reasons. The draggable lines let you separate the physical cut from intentional design.
  • Even well-centred Pokémon cards need clean corners, edges and surfaces for a high overall grade estimate.

PSA

A PSA 10 needs front centering of 55/45 or better, with back centering of 75/25 or better.

PSA uses whole-number grades. This is a centering tier ceiling, not a final-grade promise.

BGS (Beckett)

A BGS 10 needs front centering of 55/45 or better, with back centering of 55/45 or better.

BGS reports centering as a subgrade and uses distinct front/back tolerances in this pinned table.

TAG estimate

A TAG 10 needs front centering of 52/48 or better, with back centering of 52/48 or better.

This is CardRevive's internal BGS-equivalent estimate, not a reproduction of TAG's proprietary photometric method.

Common questions

Can I measure full-art Pokémon cards?

Yes when you can identify a repeatable printed boundary on opposite sides. If the design has no reliable boundary, the checker should be treated as an approximate visual aid.

Should I remove a Pokémon card from its sleeve?

A sleeve can add reflections and hide the physical edge. Use a safe, clean setup and avoid handling the surface more than necessary.
